A 40th anniversary conference was held at SFGH September 9, 2017.
The purpose of the conference was to recognize the many individuals who obtained clinical psychology research training at UCSF/SFGH for the last four decades. Invited speakers included pre- and postdoctoral Fellows and members of the research teams who carried out the studies in Spanish and English during their training.
Dr. Ricardo F. Muñoz and Dr. Jeanne Miranda were their UCSF mentors over the last forty years.
We discussed the importance of education, the value of knowledge, and efforts to share this knowledge first with the diverse low-income patients that San Francisco General Hospital is committed to serve, and then with Spanish- and English-speaking people all over the world.
Our research program's goal has been 1) to prevent and treat depression and 2) to help people quit smoking using psychology and technology to do so.
Our work over the years eventually led to the global Internet intervention research program at UCSF/SFGH and now at Palo Alto University's Institute for International Internet Interventions for Health (i4Health).
The manuals we developed are available for downloading at no charge under the Resources Tab at the i4Health website.
